Deska Continues to Baffle the Royals

Royals coach Dino Roumel told his players prior to the start of their series against the Toronto Maple Leafs they'd have to do two things this series in order to advance. 1) Win a game at Dominico Field at Christie Pitts and 2) Beat Marek Deska. So far the Royals are heading back to the drawing board.

The Leafs behind a stellar performance by Deska edged past the Royals 7-4 Sunday afternoon to take a 1-0 series lead in the best of seven quarter finals.

Deska pitched seven innings of three hit baseball allowing two runs on three hits and struckout nine Royals on the afternoon.

Sean Reilly had two hits on afternoon including a solo homer in the 2nd inning to led the Royals. Nathan Grant added a solo shot in the 7th while Chris Stewart had a two run homer in the 9th to make it 7-4.

Game two goes Tuesday night in Guelph at 7:30 pm. Game Three of the series in back in Toronto Wednesday night and will be telecast on a tape delay basis at 9 pm on Rogers Cable 20.
