All season long despite his team's struggles in the win-loss column Royals' slugger Sean Reilly has been the one constant in their lineup.
With each at bat Reilly edges closer and closer to some significant league milestones. As of Wednesday morning Reilly was two runs batted in short of tying him with Bill Byckowski (365 career) for third all time in the IBL. He is also one home run short of tying for fifth in the league (76) and a double short for fifth in the league (105).
Reilly by his own admission was pressing a bit earlier in the season but now with the addition of former Minnesota Twins farm hand John Waltenbury batting behind him and reigining league MVP Jamie Pogue batting in front of him Reilly has relaxed and let his bat do all his talking as opposing pitchers are no longer able to pitch around him.
Stats wise Reilly is currently third in the league in batting average (.365) second in home runs (6) and leads the league in runs batted in (29) . With a lot of baseball to play as the Royals have 8 games remaining in their regular season schedule, he's not far off from a potential triple crown run.
