The IBL and Royals welcome a new ownership group
The IBL approved the sale of the Royals to a group to be led by former IBL commissioner Jim Rooney. Rooney served as commissioner from 2001 to 2009 and prior to that he served as team president for the Guelph Storm of the OHL.Rooney will assume the role of the team president and managing partner, while Kevin Hinton will return as manager of the Royals. Bruce Bent sold his controlling interest but will remain on the board as a partner.
Game Seven unlucky for the Royals
The Royals season came to an end Sunday night in Brantford following a 5-3 loss to the Brantford Red Sox in the seventh and deciding game of their IBL semi-final series.
The Red Sox scored four times in the 7th inning to erase the 2-1 lead the Royals took into that frame. Ryan Hart took the loss allowing 4 of the 5 runs the Red Sox scored.
Mark Allen had a homer and drove in two runs while Sean Reilly had two hits.
The Royals would like to thank our fans and sponsors for their support this season.
