by Ryan Eakin

GUELPH - The Guelph Royals Baseball Club is excited to announce today that we have re-signed infielder Darius Barlas for the 2023 season.

Barlas, 26, will play in his fifth IBL season when the Royals take to the field in May.

Across the Orangeville's native five seasons in the IBL, the sure-handed infielder has batted .241 in 110 career games.

The left-handed bat has spent three of his first four seasons with the Royals, with one with the Barrie Baycats mixed in.

Barlas says he cannot wait to be back with Guelph this summer.

"I am excited to be back on the field this summer. I am looking forward to building off what we accomplished last year and bringing home a championship.:

Royals field manager Dino Roumel said he is happy to have the slick infielder back on his roster for this summer.

"We are so excited about having Darius back with us this year. He has been such an important part of this team for the past few seasons. His versatility is a huge asset for us. Aside from being able to play a number of different positions, Darius is a great teammate."
