Baycats Bats Come Alive as Royals Get Blown Out in Barrie

MIDHURST - A night to forget.

The Barrie Baycats beat the Guelph Royals 10-2 on Thursday evening to improve to 3-3 on the season.

With the loss, the Royals drop to 1-6.

Barrie starter Juan Benitez was solid in his first outing of the season, picking up the win while allowing one earned run on three hits and one walk in five innings pitched.

Baycats first basemen Adam Odd led the way at the plate, going three-for-five with a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Guelph starter Yomar Concepcion struggled in defeat, allowing eight earned runs on eight hits and three walks in just four innings pitched.

BARRIE - 10-12-2

BIGGEST PLAY OF THE GAME: Up a run in the bottom of the third inning, Odd hit a two-out, two-run double to extend the Baycats lead to 4-1.

The Royals seek revenge on Barrie on Saturday when they host the Baycats at 1 pm from Hastings Stadium.
