HAMILTON-And now it's the best of one.

The Guelph Royals dropped bombs early and often to force a 5th and deciding game against the Hamilton Cardinals with an 18-3 victory at Bernie Arbour Memorial Stadium Wednesday night

Dalton Pompey fired the opening salvo with a solo homer to right field on just the second pitch of the ball game. He finished the night 4 for 5 with 2 RBI and scored six times. He finished a double shy of the cycle.

Sean Reilly blasted two round-trippers in his last visit to Bernie Arbour. He finished with four hits, and three RBI, and scored twice.

Malik Collymore was 4 for 6 with a home run and four RBI.

Not to be outdone Conner Morro drove in four RBI on a trio of hits.

Andrew Case (1-1) went five innings for the win. He gave up three runs on five hits with a walk and four strikeouts.

Tyler Duncan connected for a two-run blast for the Cardinals. While Luis Jean went 4-for-5 with an RBI.

Ryan Burnside (0-1) took the loss for the Cardinals. He was touched up for six runs on seven hits and a walk over 4.1 innings pitched.

Game five goes Friday night at Hastings Stadium. The first pitch is set for 7:30 pm

If the Royals win, they’ll face Welland in the second round. If the Cards win, they’ll take on London.
