Boon a Major Pain For Royals

Owen Boon held the Royals offense to just six hits  Monday afternoon at Labatt Park as the London Majors defeated the Royals 6-1.

Boon (1-0) pitched the complete game on 120 pitches and tallied an unlucky 13 strikeouts allowing two walks and an unearned run.

The Royals opened the scoring in the top of the 1st inning on a single by Jade Williams and an error by the left fielder which allowed Conner Morro to score from third.

The Majors answered back with three runs in the home half of the first inning adding single runs in the fourth, fifth and eighth innings.

Ethan Hammond went 2 for 4 with a single and a double which was the lone extra-base hit for the Royals.  

Emilis Guerrero (0-1) took the loss tossing five complete innings allowing five runs (all earned) on eight hits. He struck out three and issued one walk.  

The Royals (1-1) are back on the road Thursday night in Barrie to play the Baycats at 7:30 pm before their second attempt at their home opener against the Brantford Red Sox Saturday at 1:00 pm
