Borroto Powers Panthers Past Royals

KITCHENER – Yorbis Borroto continued his torrid start with three more hits in the Kitchener Panthers' 7-4 win over the Guelph Royals Friday night at Jack Couch Park.

Borroto singled twice and homered while driving in two and scoring twice. He's now batting .556 in 27 at-bats. Zach Johnson hit a two-run blast, Colin Gordner went 2-for-4 with a run, and Stephen Whalen singled twice.

Yoennis Yera (3-0) struck out eight over six innings, allowing one earned run on four hits without issuing a walk. Miguel Lahera earned his third save with a scoreless ninth, striking out two.

For Guelph, Sean Reilly singled and hit a solo home run while scoring twice. Ethan Mohan went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run.

Joel Espinal (1-2) took the loss, giving up seven runs on nine hits over 5.1 innings. He walked four and struck out six.

Kitchener improved to 13-2, and Guelph dropped to 7-9.
