Burns Returns for First Full Season as Royal
GUELPH - The Guelph Royals Baseball Club is excited to announce today the re-signing of infielder Carson Burns.
Burns, 27, joined the Royals at the roster deadline in 2024 after spending the first five seasons of his career with the Barrie Baycats.
After being traded to Guelph in July, the two-time IBL champion batted .276 with one home run and a stolen base before starting every game for the team in the playoffs.
The Orangeville, Ontario native said he is eager to take a step in 2025.
"I'm very excited to sign with the Royals again this season. Playing with this group under [manager] Dino [Roumel] is something special and the team atmosphere is unlike any other. I can't wait to be back at Hastings this summer."
Royals assistant general manager Ryan Eakin said Burns is a valuable asset to the Royals.
"We love what Carson brings to the team, both on and off the field. He gives us above-average defence at three different infield positions, can catch if need be, has a lot of playoff experience, and was a seamless fit in our clubhouse after joining us midseason last summer.
"I have always been intrigued with the potential in his bat, too. He is going to get a lot of reps early in the season and hopefully, that will allow him to settle in at the plate and perform."
