Former MVP Custodio Returns to Royal City

GUELPH - The Guelph Royals Baseball Club is excited to announce today the signing of pitcher Claudio Custodio.
Custodio, 35, returns for his fourth season with the Royals and for his fifth season in the CBL after enjoying a dominant season in Venezuela.
In Venezuela, the 2022 IBL MVP had a 1.82 ERA and 31 strikeouts in 29.2 innings pitched.
A one time IBL champion with the Barrie Baycats in 2017, Custodio's best year came in Guelph in 2022 when he won the MVP and set the league's single-season strikeout record with 196 strikeouts while going 10-0 with a 2.17 ERA.
Royals assistant general manager Ryan Eakin said Custodio returns to Guelph to be the face of the pitching staff.
"We are thrilled to add Claudio. In my mind, he is right there with Frank Garces as the best pitcher in the league. He gives us an excellent chance to win every time he is on the mound. He is a winner and in my mind, the most exciting player to watch in this league."
