Interisano Returns as Royals Continue to Bring Back Core

by Ryan Eakin

GUELPH - The Guelph Royals Baseball Club is excited to announce today that first basemen Justin Interisano has re-signed for the 2023 season.

Interisano, 31, returns to the Royals for his 11th season in the Intercounty Baseball League and his ninth with his hometown Royals.

Across his decorated IBL career, the man known as "juice" has batted a lifetime .299 with 66 home runs.

In 2023, the powerful left-handed bat batted .281 in 27 regular season games.

The Royals veteran said he cannot wait to suit back up for the Royals this summer.

"The biggest reason I decided to come back for one more season is the motivation to finish off some unfinished business. It played a large factor in my decision to come back. I hate the way that feeling felt and how losing in the first round left a sour taste in my mouth along with every other guy in the locker room. I took my time this offseason to make sure I was 100% committed to doing one more summer with the Royals. Eventually it came down to wanting one more kick at the can with that extra motivation to want to erase how last seaosn ended up. I really like what Dino and Fuller have done this offseason and look forward to being with those boys again in the locker room, along with some of the new faces we have brought for the ride."

Royals field manager Dino Roumel did not hold back his excitement when it comes to having Interisano back for the 2023 season.

"I'm so happy that Justin has decided to re-sign with us. Along with Sean Reilly, he is the ulimate Guelph Royal. Justin is a student of the game and has such an incredible passion for baseball and the Royals."
