Perennial All-Star Takamatsu Returns to Guelph

GUELPH - The Guelph Royals Baseball Club is excited to announce the re-signing of infielder Garrett Takamatsu.
Takamatsu, 27, returns to the Royals for his third season with the team.
In his first two seasons with the team, the 2021 IBL MVP with the Toronto Maple Leafs has hit ten home runs with a .310 batting average.
His best season in the Royal City was a season ago, when he hit a team-leading .336 with six home runs, en route to being named to the IBL's All-First Team.
The 2018 IBL Rookie of the Year has batted a lifetime .341 with a .961 OPS throughout five IBL seasons.
Royals assistant general manager Ryan Eakin said the Royals are lucky to have a local player as quality as Takamatsu on their team.
"Teams in this league search far and wide for players that they can only hope are as impactful as Garrett is to us, so it is not lost on me how important he is. His bat is as dangerous as anyone's in this league, he can play both corner infield spots, and is a massive part of our culture off the field."
