Pompey Powers Royals Past Red Sox 14-11

BRANTFORD – Those chants of Pompey, Pompey, Pompey might get a little louder Saturday night.

Dalton Pompey finished a home run short of the cycle to lead the Guelph Royals to a 14-11 win at Brantford in a game that ended at 12:02 am Saturday morning. 

The former Blue Jays outfielder drove in four and scored three times as he continued his hot streak this week which has him currently batting .500 on the week 6 for 12  with an HR, a double, a triple, 6 RBI, 3 walks, and 2 stolen bases.

Sean Reilly drilled a two-run blast in the seventh inning, Justin Interisano had an RBI and scored twice while Brendan Keys had two hits, an RBI, and a run.

Lukas Berry started for the Royals (9-7) and allowed nine runs on nine hits over 5.2 innings. He walked six and struck out nine. Ben Reid (2-0) finished the game to earn the win, allowing two runs on four hits with five strikeouts.

Evan Ryan hit a three-run home run for the Red Sox, who fell to 0-15. Spencer Jamieson went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs, Liam Sutherland had three hits, an RBI and two runs, Jesse Fishbaum drove in two, Troy Banks had an RBI, Nick Burdett went 3-for-5 with a solo home run and Jaret Lupton picked up a pair of hits and scored twice.

Brantford starter Garrett Larner took the loss surrendering seven unearned runs on four hits over 4.2 innings. He walked seven and struck out three. Gabe Bruder (0-4) took the loss, giving up two runs on a hit and a walk in one-third of an inning in relief.


The Royals (9-7) host the Hamilton Cardinals (4-10) tonight at Hastings Stadium . Tickets are available online or at the gate on game day.  The Fixed Gear Brewing Co. Beer Garden is as well.
