Royals Add Brazilian National Team Slugger Mascai

GUELPH - The Guelph Royals Baseball Club is excited to announce today the signing of utility player Victor Mascai.

Mascai, 25, made his Royals debut in Guelph's win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Wednesday, going two-for-six with a moonshot, two-run home run to right field.

Prior to joining Guelph, the left-handed bat played in the Houston Astros system from 2018-2022 before becoming a fixture for the Brazilian National Team.

At the 2026 World Baseball Classic in the spring, Mascai hit a home run off of big-leaguer Michael Wacha in Brazil's loss to the USA.

Royals assistant general manager Ryan Eakin said Mascai is a big addition to the Royals lineup.

"Victor is a pro hitter with lots of pop and the ability to play all four corner spots. We are super excited to add a left-handed power bat to our lineup. What we saw in Toronto on Wednesday is only a sign of things to come."
