Royals Add to Infield with WCBL Star Gilbert

GUELPH - The Guelph Royals Baseball Club is excited to announce today the signing of infielder Antony Gilbert.

Gilbert, 24, joins the Royals following the conclusion of his collegiate career at Campbellsville University.

In his senior season, the Quebec native hit a whopping .399 with nine home runs and more walks (18) and strikeouts (13).

Gilbert, who won the WCBL batting title in 2024 with a batting average of .412 (while finishing tied for the league lead in home runs with 13), will report to the Royals this week.

Royals assistant general manager Ryan Eakin said Gilbert is a big addition to the Royals lineup.

"First off, I want to thank Patrick Scalabrini from the Quebec Capitales for helping make this happen. We are thrilled to add a young hitter who puts bat-on-ball while providing elite defence on the left-side of the infield. We are excited to add a player of his talent, more so given he will be a player at every game for us."
