by Ryan Eakin

BRANTFORD - This is more like it.

The Guelph Royals beat the Brantford Red Sox 15-5 on Friday evening to improve to 3-7 on the season.

With the loss, the Red Sox drop to 2-9.

Guelph starter Yomar Concepcion picked up his first win of the season, striking out 11 Red Sox batters over five and one-third of an inning.

The hard-throwing righty allowed four earned runs on five hits and three walks in the process.

Royals shortstop Brando Leroux raised his batting average to an eye-popping .423 after going four-for-four with three runs batted in.

Guelph reliever Ben Reid recorded the rare three-plus inning save.

Brantford starter Danny Howat suffered the loss after allowing five earned runs on 13 hits and two walks in just three and one-third innings pitched.

GUELPH - 15-23-1

BRANTFORD - 5-7-2

BIGGEST PLAY OF THE GAME: Up 1-0 in the top of the second inning, Royals shortstop Conner Morro singled with the bases loaded, scoring a pair of runs on the play.

The game never seemed in doubt from that point forward.
