Royals Bolster Bullpen with Addition of Pineda
GUELPH - The Guelph Royals Baseball Club is excited to announce today the signing of relief pitcher Gleyvin Pineda.
Pineda, 29, joins the Royals after pitching winter ball in both the Dominican Republic and Venezuela.
Originally a position player in the Los Angeles Angels organization, Pineda converted to pitching in 2022 with the Lake Erie Monsters of the Frontier League.
From there, the native of Azua in the Dominican Republic has pitched for numerous Frontier and Mexican league teams.
Royals assistant general manager Ryan Eakin said he hopes Pineda can help round out the Royals bullpen.
"Between Pineda, Kevin Escorica, Andrew Case, Kyle Thomas, and Brandon Deans, we have multiple relievers that we trust in any situation. We hope our bullpen is going to be our calling card come later in the summer."
