GUELPH - The Guelph Royals Baseball Club is excited to announce today the signing of left-handed pitcher Rhys Montgomery.

Montgomery, 21, joins the Royals after spending the 2022 season with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

In his rookie season with the Leafs, the 6'5", 240 lbs southpaw went 1-0 with a 3.70 earned run average in seven appearances.

The Mississauga, Ontario native said he is looking forward to suiting up with the Royals this summer.

"I am looking forward to playing with a great group of guys this season. I have a lot to prove coming into the year and am thankful for the opportunity provided to me by Guelph."

Royals manager Dino Roumel said adding a young arm in Montgomery is a big get for the Royals.

"We are so excited to welcome Rhys to our pitching staff. Rhys is a talented young man and yet another player that we have added this offseason who has versatility as a starter or reliever. He is a competitor and a great addition to our clubhouse."
