Royals Bring Back All-Star Closer Garcia

GUELPH - The Guelph Royals Baseball Club is excited to announce the re-signing of closer Edgar Garcia for the 2026 season.

Garcia, 28, re-signs with Guelph after a dominant debut season with the team in 2025.

A season ago, the former big leaguer had a 2.83 ERA and seven saves in 18 regular season appearances before recording a 1.12 ERA in three playoff appearances.

Garcia, who was an All-Star in 2025, can both start and pitch out of the bullpen, most notably pitching six innings of one-run ball in game four of the 2025 semifinals against the Welland Jackfish.

Royals assistant general manager Ryan Eakin said he is ecstatic to have Garcia back in the fold.

"Of all the amazing imports I have been lucky enough to been around in this league, Edgar tops the list. He is a lights out closer for us but more importantly, an amazing person and teammate. He is all about winning. He sets the standard for our organization both on and off the field."
