Royals Bring Back Williams and Shred

by Ryan Eakin

GUELPH - The Guelph Royals Baseball Club is excited to announce today that we have re-signed outfielder J.D Williams and reliever Darren Shred.

Williams, 26, will enter his third season with the Royals when their season begins on the weekend.

In his first two seasons in the Royal City, the former Cincinnati Reds prospect has batted a lifetime .307 with six home runs and 24 stolen bases.

The Toronto, Ontario also played in the Frontier League for the Quebec Capitales.

Shred, 25, will also enter his third season with the Royals.

In limited action in 2022 and 2023, the former Reds prospect had allowed just two earned runs in 11 innings pitched and expects to be a significant part of the Royals bullpen in 2024.

The former Ontario Blue Jay was the Barrie Baycats' setup man throughout their 2019 championship run.
