Royals down Red Sox to move into three way tie for first

Game 42  will determine where the Guelph Royals pennant hopes lie

The Royals did their part Saturday night at Hastings Stadium in front of the largest crowd of the season as they pushed past the Brantford Red Sox 18-3 moving them into a three-way tie for first with the Welland Jackfish and London Majors with a lot to be decided on Sunday.

The Royals pounded out 19 hits with J.D. Williams leading the way with three hits including a home run and three RBI.  Malik Collymore went 4-for-5 with two RBI and two runs, and Dalton Pompey had three hits, an RBI, and two runs,.

Emilis Guerrero (8-3) picked up the win, allowing two runs on six hits over five innings. He struck out six and didn’t walk anyone.

The Royals closed out the home portion of their schedule with a league-best 19-2 record at home and have won 15 in a row at Hastings Stadium. They have won their last 8 games which equals their best win streak.

The Royals (30-11)travel to Kitchener Sunday to face the Panthers (15-26) at Jack Couch Park . Weather permitting the game is scheduled to start at 2 pm
