Royals Down The Baycats 5-1

The Guelph Royals are playing their best baseball at the right time of year as the regular season winds down,  riding another three-game win streak following a 5-1 victory over the Barrie Baycats Tuesday night at Hastings Stadium.

Jeifry Nunez (1-0) started for the Royals and tossed five shut innings holding off the Baycats for his first IBL victory.  He faced just three batters over the minimum allowing one hit, a walk, and a hit batter while he struck out six on the night.

Evan Chenier surrendered the lone run to the Baycats in the 6th inning on a pair of hits he struck out two.

Emilis Guerrero and Brandon Deans pitched scoreless innings in relief and both had a pair of strikeouts.  Andrew Case struck out three in the ninth inning.

Connor Morro powered the Royals at the plate going  3 for 4 with a solo home run, and a pair of doubles with an RBI. Claudio Custodio went 3 for 4  at the plate as well with a double, two singles, and an RBI.

The Royals have now won 13 in a row at home dating back to June 21st  and are 17-2 at home and 25-11 overall.

The Royals host the Toronto Maple Leafs Saturday night at Hastings Stadium. The first pitch is set for 7:30 pm   Tickets are available online at www.guelphroyals.com  or at the gate on game day.
