Royals Down The Champs Again For Second Time In Week

BARRIE – The Guelph Royals beat the Barrie Baycats for the second time in a week, handing the second-place club a 6-4 defeat Thursday night at Coates Stadium.

Jeff MacLeod went 2-for-4 with a solo home run to lead the Royals (9-11). Angel Villalona and Ethan Mohan also went deep in the win. Kyle Kush drove in a run and scored, and Josh Garton drove in the other run. Guelph improved to 9-11.

Edwin Javier (2-0) went eight innings, allowing four runs on seven hits with three walks and 11 strikeouts. Steven Dressler picked up his first save after a scoreless inning in which he gave up a hit and walked one while striking out two.

For Barrie, Ryan Spataro went 4-for-4 with two RBI and a run. Jordan Castaldo had the other RBI. Adrian Salcedo went seven innings, surrendering five runs on six hits with a walk and eight strikeouts.
