Royals Make Deadline Splash; Add Star Reliever Case

GUELPH - The Guelph Royals Baseball Club is excited to announce today the signing of former Toronto Blue Jays prospect Andrew Case.

Case, 32, returns to the Royals after originally pitching for the team in 2022.

In 2022, the Saint John native recorded an ERA of 2.07 in 15 regular season appearences, striking out 19 batters in just 17.1 innings.

Prior to signing with Guelph in 2022, the right-hander spent six seasons in the Blue Jays minor league system, reaching  as high as AAA in 2018.

From there, Case spent time in Mexico and in the Frontier League with the Quebec Capitales.

Royals assistant general manager Ryan Eakin said securing Case completes a successful deadline for the Royals.

"This one came right down to the wire and then some, but we are thrilled to add Case to a bullpen that will already include Edgar Garcia, Kyle Thomas, Niall Windeler, Brandon Deans, and Chris Lazar come playoff time. This is as deep as a bullpen as I have seen in this league, which will give manager Dino Roumel lots of options.

"Case comes with a ton of experience, which we wanted to add coming in to the deadline, and is very motivated to get rolling here."
