Royals Make Major Splash By Re-Signing All-Star Collymore

by Ryan Eakin

GUELPH - The Guelph Royals Baseball Club is excited to announce today the return of third basemen Malik Collymore.

Collymore, 28, was a first-team All-Star in his one and only IBL season in 2022. That summer, the Toronto, Ontario native batted .369 with seven home runs and a whopping 27 stolen bases across 39 regular season games.

For good measure, the former Ottawa Champion hit 18 doubles while picking up a pair of triples.

The former St. Louis Cardinals, Milwaukee Brewers, and Cincinnati Reds farmhand said he is excited to be back in Guelph for the team's playoff push.

"I'm really pumped to be back with Guelph this summer. I'm excited to help this great group of guys pursue the goal of winning the IBL championship in 2023."

Royals manager Dino Roumel said adding Collymore is a game-changer.

"We are so excited to welcome Malik back. He is an All-Star and one of the more dynamic players in the league that combines speed, power, and plays great defence. Equally as important he is one of the more popular guys in the clubhouse. Anytime you add an MVP calibre player it automatically changes the entire lineup. Welcome back, Malik."
