Royals Re-Sign Deans For 2023 Season
GUELPH -- The Guelph Royals Baseball Club is excited to announce today that we have re-signed pitcher Brandon Deans for the 2023 season.
Deans, 21, joined the Royals in 2022 after spending his collegiate career at Oakland University.
In his rookie season, the righty went 4-2 with an earned run average of 2.50, while striking out 52 batters in just 31.1 innings.
The former Ontario Blue Jay then followed up his successful freshman season in the IBL by throwing a no-hitter for the Humber Hawks in the fall.
With the Hawks, Deans also set the single-game OCAA strikeout record by striking out 16 Seneca Sting batters in September.
The young right-hander said he is excited to rejoin the Royals in 2023.
"It's a great feeling being able to re-sign with the Royals. Getting the opportunity to compete for a championship in front of the best fans in the IBL is a special feeling and honour. Our fans deserve a championship team and we plan on making that happen this summer."
