The Guelph Royals announced on Wednesday that they have signed right-handed pitcher  Claudio Custodio to join their ball club for their upcoming  2022 season in the Intercounty Baseball League.

Custodio is no stranger to the Intercounty Baseball League, having played an instrumental role in the 2017 Barrie Baycats championship run before signing a minor league deal with the Toronto Blue Jays in 2018 where he started the season with the Lansing Lugnuts of the Midwest League climbing as high as  AAA  with the Buffalo Bisons.

He later signed with the Atlanta Braves organization for the 2019 season, where he was named the Mississippi Braves (AA) pitcher of the year.

Custodio spent the 2021 season in the Baltimore Orioles Organization with both the AA Bowie Baysox and their AAA affiliate the Norfolk Tides putting up a 3-3 record over 28 games with 39 strikeouts, in 50.1 innings pitched.

With the Barrie Baycats in 2017, he posted a 7-1 record with an earned-run-average of 2.29 in 70.2 innings pitched that year tallying 99 strikeouts.

The Royals open their 2022 season on Saturday, May 21st  when they play host to the Toronto Maple Leafs at David E. Hastings Stadium Gametime is slated for 1:00 pm.
