Royals Sign Southpaw Liriano to Bolster Rotation

GUELPH - The Guelph Royals Baseball Club is excited to announce the signing of starting pitcher Elvin Liriano for the 2026 season.

Liriano, 33 signs with the Royals after a pro career that started in 2011.

From 2011 to 2016, the southpaw was in the San Diego Padres organization, recording a lifetime 3.72 ERA in 268.1 innings pitched.

From there, the San Cristobal, DR native has pitched in independent baseball, Mexico, Venezuela, and Nicaragua, bringing loads of experience to the Royals rotation which will feature Alfred Vega and Jacob Kush.

Royals assistant general manager Ryan Eakin said Liriano is a big add to the Royals rotation.

"Elvin was a priority for me heading into the offseason. I wanted a lefty to complement Alfred at the top of the rotation and Elvin was my clear top choice, having previously talked to him in prior offseasons. He's got lots of experience, throws strikes, and comes highly recommended from both Claudio Custodio and Edgar Garcia."
