Welland erases two-run deficit to beat Guelph
WELLAND –Welland erased a two-run deficit with three runs in the bottom of the eighth to give the Jackfish a 3-2 win over the Guelph Royals Sunday afternoon.
Nolan Pettipiece, Wilson Soriano and Caleb Feuerstake each singled and scored in the win. Mattingly Romanin and DeAndre Asbury-Heath both drove in a run.
Matthew Clingersmith (3-1) earned the win after giving up two runs on four hits over eight innings. He walked three and struck out five. Chris Boatto pitched the ninth for his second save.
Jeff MacLeod singled twice for the Royals. Angel Villalona and Riley Perks drove in the runs. Kyle Kush doubled and scored twice.
Yunior Yambatis (0-2) took the loss, allowing three runs on four hits in 7.1 innings. He walked four and struck out three.
